IMPORTANT WRITING CABINET À TROIS CORPS WITH THE COAT OF ARMS OF THE VON BRANDENSTEIN FAMILY - SOUTH GERMANY Title: IMPORTANT WRITING CABINET À TROIS CORPS WITH THE COAT OF ARMS OF THE VON BRANDENSTEIN FAMILY. Date: Around 1765. Material: Softwood body. Walnut, burl walnut, maple, figured birch, mother-of-pearl and other fruit woods, veneered. Measurement: Ca. 210 x 126 x 68 cm. Mark: On the back, an old label with an illegible handwritten note. Description: A slightly curved lower section of a chest of drawers with two drawers without a crossbar, resting on tall, slightly flared legs. The frame extends in the shape of an apron and is gracefully curved. In the center, a curved cartouche extending across both drawers, containing a large floral arrangement with tulips, bellflowers, and other flowers inlaid. On the chest of drawers, with a tray-like extended edge, a writing top with two drawers stacked one above the other on each side and a central writing flap. On top, in two cartouches, pastoral scenes in mirror symmetry. The tabernacle top features a wide, continuous drawer, with three smaller drawers on each side above it. In the center is the slightly arched tabernacle door depicting Neptune and naiads. The gable-shaped headboard features the von Brandenstein family coat of arms in the center, depicting a wolf carrying a goose in its mouth. Provenance: - Corporate collection Münsterland.
