Chests of drawers Top-mounted writing desk - PRESUMABLY AUSTRIA Title: Chests of drawers Top-mounted writing desk. Date: Around 1780. Material: Rosewood in cube marquetry, with rosewood and lemonwood inlays on the inside. The interior is lined with fabric or leather, and the drawers are lined with paper. Measurement: 235.5 x 123 x 65 cm. Description: A three-drawer, curved chest of drawers with a cut-out frame. The writing compartment features a roll-out desk and, inside, storage compartments as well as six side drawers. The writing top, with leather inlay, is extendable. The two-door upper section is slightly curved at the top and features a richly fitted interior. This comprises a shelf at the top and, below, eight drawers arranged around a rectangular central compartment with a door and two small drawers. Inlaid with cube marquetry on all sides.
