SMALL PORCELAIN TEAPOT WITH MERCHANT SCENES - MEISSEN Title: SMALL PORCELAIN TEAPOT WITH MERCHANT SCENES. Date: ca. 1725/1730. Material: Porcelain, enriched in polychrome and gold. Measurement: Height 10.5 cm. Mark: Swordsmark painted blue under glaze, gold number '50' (on both parts), line as incised mark in the base, old retailer's label. Description: On a small stand, a rounded body with a pipe spout and a c-shaped handle. On both sides, gold-framed cartouches painted with foliage and strap work in iron red and purple as well as lustrous fields. Within these, finely painted harbour scenes with figures. In the spaces between and on the handle, 'Indian' floral painting. Below the upper rim, a gold-pointed border. Spout completely gilt. Slightly domed lid with a spherical finial, painted circumferentially and over the entire surface with harbour scenes and seascapes.
