Glazed wooden frame, ebonised and partially gilded. Measurement: 5,5 x 40 x 28 cm. Mark: Monogrammed ‘JK’ in black on the front left of the waves. Description: In a rectangular, glass-framed picture frame, a seascape depicting three large sailing ships on a choppy sea. Large clouds of spray swirl around their bows. The sea and the ships stand out clearly against the almost black velvet background, evoking the style of grisaille painting. Provenance: - Private collection Aix-La-Chapelle.
