This painting is an example of works inspired by a famous engraving by Cornelis Cort from 1569, which in turn may have been inspired by a motif by Giulio Clovio (see RKD database: https://rkd.nl/images/249265). With the exception of a few details, this painting is a fairly accurate representation of this engraving. Oil on panel, 44,5 x 47,5 cm.
