Annotated on it in paint (badly legible): 'Sibilla Catharina Agricola' 'Gebohren See' 'Regensburg' 'Den 7 Aug' '1644'. Catharina was married to Andreas Wilhelm Agricola. The attribution to Benjamin von Block (1631-1690) is related to an etching showing the woman in exactly the same attire with the same striking jewellery https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/P_Bb-8-312 The etching by engraver Johann Alexander Böner (1647-1720) names Benjamin von Block as the painter of the original portrait after which the engraving was made. Due to the nature of the making process of an etching, the image of the etching is 'mirror image' of the original. Oil on canvas, 99.5 x 78 cm (118 x 97.5 cm).
