Map of the Mozambique Channel with Madagascar and Africa's coasts, copperplate engraving from around 1870 by Rigobert Bonne
Carte du Canal de Mosambique contenant l'isle de Madagascar avec les cotes d'Afrique, depuis le Cap de Bonne Esperance jusqu a Melinde Coloured map of the Mozambique Canal with the island of Madagascar and the coasts of Africa, from the Cape of Good Hope to Melinde. Par M. Bonne, engineer, Hydrographen de la Marine. Engraved by Dien. Relief pictorially depicted. The prime meridians are Ferro and Paris. The text appears to be the first edition; the atlas is the revised edition of 1820. The atlas was first engraved in 1780 with maps by Andre, then reprinted in 1783-4 (P5995) without Andre or Bonne on the maps. The map is framed and is in good condition. Measures approx. 53 cm x approx. 43.5 cm
