Caricatural depiction of the last four Sundays before Easter with scenes in which snipes can be seen instead of people. This comes from the area of hunting, where the Sundays around Easter are called ”Schnepfensonntage” in the hunting language. Very finely worked and detailed, the individual scenes are harmoniously distributed across the picture surface. Signed and dated lower right: M. Veith 1840. dimensions passepartout approx. 47.5 x 30 cm. Good condition with slight traces of age, a stain in the upper center.
