Depiction of two red macaws sitting on a branch. Monogrammed ”MEPH” in the stick lower right, signed in pencil below: ”M.E. Philipp”. Dimensions: frame dimensions approx. 44.5 x 54 cm, mat approx. 21.5 x 34 cm. Very good condition with few traces of age and use, small stains in the image, mount with water stain at the bottom. Martin Philipp (MEPH), born 1887 in Zwickau, died 1978 in Dresden. Studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule and the Kunstakademie in Dresden, among others under O. Zwintscher, G. Kuehl, R. Müller a. O. Schindler. Freelance artist in Dresden from 1913. Represented at numerous graphic art exhibitions until 1933 a. after 1945.
