Dimensions with frame approx. 87.5 x 78.5 cm. Very good condition with few traces of use, frame with abrasions. Adolf Hacker (11 May 1873 in Schwarzenbach an der Saale - 14 August 1943) was a German painter. The artist, who can be categorised as a realist and who trained under Caspar Ritter and Lovis Corinth, among others, made a name for himself in his main place of work, Heidelberg, as a painter of urban chronicles and as a quick painter. The majority of his work consists of scenes from Heidelberg and the surrounding area as well as portraits. In his younger years and again during the First World War, Hacker was also a guest painter in the navy, so that portraits of naval personnel also make up part of his work.
