Siegfried Stoitzner was an Austrian painter and art postcard publisher. He was born the third son of the painter Karl Stoitzner. His uncle was the landscape painter Konstantin Stoitzner; Josef Stoitzner was his cousin. From 1909 to 1913, Siegfried Stoitzner attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. As a one-year volunteer, he went to the First World War, from which he returned home as a highly decorated first lieutenant. In 1918, he and his family moved to Furth near Göttweig, where he and his brother Otto Stoitzner, also painters, worked together. There, Siefried Stoitzner founded the postcard publishing company Heimatland, which sold landscape paintings by both artists. After his marriage to Albertina Stranzinger, he moved to Dürnstein, where he ran an inn until 1936. In 1919, he was a founding member of the Wachau Artists' Association. Stoitzner was represented at the Great German Art Exhibition in Munich in 1938 and 1940. He spent the Second World War in Bad Traunstein. In 1941, he became a member of the Gesellschaft bildender Künstler Wiens/Vienna Society of Fine Artists (Künstlerhaus). In Munich in 1938 and 1940, Stoitzner was represented at the Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung (Great German Art Exhibition). After the death of his first wife, he married the academic painter Etta Katzenbeißer. Stoitzner's extensive oeuvre primarily includes landscapes and portraits, but also genre paintings and hunting scenes. Many works deal with the Wachau and Waldviertel regions. Honours: title of Professor in 1963, Honorary Citizen of the City of Dürnstein in 1971, Martin Johann Schmidt Prize of the City of Krems in 1967, Gold Medal of Honour from the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1961, and Honorary Member of the Krems Wine Brotherhood in 1976.
