Renaissance Style Carved Wood Cassone - Large Renaissance style carved wood chest or cassone with high-relief decorative elements, including a reclining male figure, grotesque masks, and foliate motifs throughout. Case rests on a heavy base molding supported by carved bracket feet. The lid is completely detached. The interior is unfinished and contains a small metal lock plate. The sides of the chest are fitted with wrought iron bail handles. Remnants of an older gilded or polychrome finish are visible throughout the carved surfaces. 21 1/2” H x 68” W x 22 1/4” D.
