Rare multi-material desk tray by Charles Asprey & Charles Asprey Jr. for Asprey, combining carved tortoiseshell, wood, leather lining, and polished/engraved .925 sterling silver mounts with incised scrolling ornament; short sides fitted with twin neoclassical-style handles. Materials: sterling silver, tortoiseshell, wood, leather. Dimensions: H 64 mm x L 298.5 mm x D 203.2 mm (2.52 x 11.75 x 8 in). Weight: approx. 1.36 kg (3 lb). Hallmarks: fully stamped with British marks incl. London assay, Queen Victoria duty/profile, maker’s mark CA–CA, sterling standard, and date letter “A” for 1876. Condition: The overall condition of this desk tray by Asprey is excellent. Besides the little normal wear, there is no damage to the silver. All parts are secured in the settings.
