Amulet for a Plague by the Maggid of Trisk. Cairo, Early 20th Century - Printed amulet on thick leaf for protection from plagues, printed by J.Hezkuel, Cairo. The amulet was written by the maggid of Trisk, who was a son of R' Menachem Nachum. He distributed them to Chassidim to hang in their homes during times of plague. The amulet was brought in the book Rephael HaMalach  by Rabbi Yehudah Yudel Rosenberg, who writes about it: ”This amulet contains a deep secret, and I have toiled much to comprehend its secret. Blessed is He who has given man knowledge, for I have grasped the truth. Here is a drawing of the amulet, its secret is that it was made as a firepan surrounded by walls ...” [1] leaf, 21x14.5 cm. Fine-very fine condition, minimal wear, and tiny tears in the margins.
