Miniature Tehillim with Olive Wood Binding Product of the ”Ben Uri” Workshop, 1929 - Tehillim with olive wood binding in the Bezalel style. Stamped ”Ben Uri Jerusalem.” Apparently this item was produced at the Ben Uri  workshop established by a forgotten 'Bezalel' artist named Yosef Teper. Yosef Teper was born in 1886 in Mezeritch, Russia. He specialized in the study of art in Paris before WWI, while living in a ”catacomb” - the same studio construct in Montparnasse used by famous artists. He was invited by Boris Schatz in 1910 to serve as a teacher at Bezalel, but never ended up serving as a teacher there. He ascended to the Land of Israel in 1922, and opened a workshop named ”Ben Uri” named for Betzalel ben Uri. In 1929 Teper moved the the United States, and he passed away in Missouri in 1977. This siddur was printed in 1929 - the year he left the Land, such that it could be that this is one of the final items produced at the forgotten workshop. 8.5x6 cm. Fine-very fine condition. Minimally dismantled binding. Adhesions. Minimal aging stains. Blemishes and scratches in the wooden binding.
