Rabbi Ya'akov Castro  [1525-1610] was one of the renowned rabbis of Egypt and led the yeshivah there. He was a disciple of the Ridba”z and the Ralba”ch, one of the great Later Authorities in the Beit Yosef's generation. He was hosted by Rabbi Yosef Karo at his home in Safed.
