As is known, a large fire broke out in Frankfurt am Main in 1711 and devastated almost the entire Jewish quarter. The fire began in Rabbi Naftali Katz's home, from where it spread out. The Christians accused him of starting the fire, due to his occupation with Kabbalah. These accusations caused him to flee the city. This picture was painted by the artist Johannes Andreas Benjamin Nothnagel. 32 pp, [1] picture-plate. Jacket cover. The plate is protected with silk-paper. 19.5 cm. Fine condition. The jacket cover is detached and worn. Slight tears and lacks, without damage to text. The plate is slightly detached.
