Tiferet Bachurim. First Edition. Rare. Author's Dedication - Tiferet Bachurim  - novellae on Talmudic tractates by Rabbi Rephael Shalom Chai HaKohen, one of the Tunisian sages and rabbis of the Sfax community. Livorno, 1877. First edition. Uncommon book. Author's handwritten dedication. The book includes novellae on ten tractates: Bava Metzia, Makkot, Shevuot, Rosh HaShanah, Moed Kattan, Ta'anit, Sukkah, Megillah, Tamid, Kinnin. One the title page: ”Part I” - but no others were printed. The book is adorned by many approbations from several countries. The front flyleaf bears a large sticker depicting a kohen's hands raised in blessing, surrounded by the words of  birkat kohanim  (alluding to the author - a kohen), followed by a signed and printed dedication opening with the words Minchat Marcheshet  and arranged in lofty lyrical language. In the center of the dedication, the author added approximately 10 words by hand, including the book's recipient's name and title. The flyleaf and title page also bear two handwritten owner's signatures and handwritten notations by the gaon Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Tzvi Hirsch Silverstein. He served as a rabbi of several communities: Beidozin, Wierwzbenic and others. He was a grandson of the Admo”r, the author of Tiferet Shlomo  of Radomsk. In 1925, he moved to Toronto and was one of its leading rabbis. He then ascended to the Land of Israel and after about two years, returned to Toronto.
