Ateret Tzvi. First Edition. Yashnitze, 1722. Dedication from Rabbi Eliezer Liebermann Binga Upon the Marriage of Yissachar Berman Segal's Daughter


Ateret Tzvi - "A new elucidation of the words by the authors of the Sm"a, the Sha"ch and the Ta"z on Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat, and more responsa along with his own abbreviated legal novellae" by Rabbi Tzvi b"r Azriel,  av beit din of Olik. Yashnitze, 1722. First edition.


With the Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat text. The author set his goal as resolving the Sm"a's difficulties with the Sha"ch and the Ta"z. He also authored the book Beit Lechem Yehuda on Yoreh Deah. Page 153b states: "Copy of the Va'ad Arba HaAratzot D'Medinat Polin Ledger, " with 24 regulations.


Handwritten dedication on the title page: "Gift for the gaon Rabbi ... Mosh(e)? ... Binga on the occasion of the marriage ... the daughter of the famous leader ... Berman Segal here in Halberstadt, Thursday, 14 Elul, 1725. May Hashem grant this couple length of days and years (and grant them the privilege?) to see children and grandchildren occupied with Torah and mitzvahs, peace unto the Jewish people, and to see the Beit HaMikdash, amen. Signed, Eliezer Liebermann Binga."


The Binga family was a prominent and distinguished family in Germany. Its descendants included prominent  scholars and activists. The above-mentioned Rabbi Eliezer printed the Ramba"m's Techiyat HaMetim in 1715 in Hanau.


Rabbi Yissachar Berman of Halberstadt was a major philanthropist and lover of Torah, simultaneously enjoying both Torah scholarship and wealth. He contributed to printing sefarim including Sha"s Talmud Bavli, Frankfurt am Main print, Sefer Nezer HaKodesh and more.
