Siyumah HaParshiyot MeHaTorah. Unique Work, Especially Rare - Siyumah HaParshiyot MeHaTorah - weekly Torah portions divided into readings ( aliyahs ), and reading schedule for Yamim Tovim, by Rabbi Moshe Zeckel Meinik. Offenbach, 1722. Especially rare. To the best of our knowledge, it has never been sold at auction. The author was a teacher of young children who divided the verses in the weekly Torah portions into seven aliyahs . In his times, there was not yet a consistent order for dividing the weekly portions. In a lengthy preface in Hebrew and Yiddish, he wrote that there are those who are not sufficiently proficient and stop reading the Torah in places that are incorrect according to the Law. He relates that he saw that during Torah readings, given that there is not a set division, the congregation calls out to the reader and confuses him, to the extent of loud shouting. Many later editions of Chumashim were printed in Germany according to this division. However Rabbi Aharon Wormish, rabbi of Metz and author of Meorei Ohr , came out against this division - refer to the attached materials. That same year, the author published two editions of this compilation. 12 leaves, 16.5 cm. Moderate-fine condition. Aging stains. Isolated worming perforations. Some leaves' margins are cropped with lack of individual letters and words. Original cardboard binding.
