R' Yehoshua Klein Press, Brisk, 1936. First edition. This is the first edition of the most fundamental scholarly work of all time - to the extent that yeshivah study method is customarily divided into ”Before R' Chaim” and ”After R' Chaim.” Rabbinic leaders especially venerated this work, including the Chazon Ish, who also wrote glosses on it. The author's sons write in the foreword that their father's study method spread all over the Torah world. They also write about the tremendous investment in writing these novellae and the refining the author undertook when writing them - to his last day. This first edition was printed in Rash”i script, with a special page layout. After various printers printed the book in block letters and with a different layout, the Brisker  rashei yeshivahs  protested printing this book not in its original form, and as a result, it has been reprinted with Rash”i script and with the page layout as it was originally done.
