This book is the first work by Rabbeinu, the Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh, while he was still in his native town, Salé, Morocco. The introduction to his work includes important details about the Ohr HaChaim's life, his study schedule and his teachers. It also relates the troubles and tribulations he experienced. Approbation from chachamim of Fez and Salé at the beginning of the book.
This is the first book printed by Rabbeinu in his lifetime, when he was 36 years old.
