Sha'arei Teshuvah on Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim. Dubno, 1820, Two Parts - Copy that was Rescued from a Fire
"We experienced some adventures while we were printing this book, because fumes rose against us and more than half of it burned in the fire"
Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim and 'Be'er Heitev' with 'Sha'arei Teshuvah' and with 'Yad Ephraim' by Chaim Ya'akov Mordechai Margaliot av beit din Dubno and his brother Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margaliot of Brod. Dubno, 1820. Two parts. Glosses in the second part.
With the Shulchan Aruch text. Sha'arei Teshuvah brings the essence of the halachic decisions in the responsa literature compiled from more than two hundred books that are listed in the preface. One of the most fundamental works on the Shulchan Aruch; almost no Shulchan Aruch is printed without it. The Chafetz Chaim also printed it in his book series Mishnah Berurah.
Especially important approbations: Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel of Apta, author of Ohev Yisrael, who knew Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Margaliot, a rare approbation from the Mittler Rebbe, Rabbi Dov Ber of Lubavitch, approbation from the author of Chatam Sofer, approbation from Rabbi Mordechai of Kremnitz, and an approbation from the author of Chavat Da'at and Netivot Mishpat and more.
In the two earlier parts by Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margaliot, we learn from the introductions that Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Margaliot, who was rabbi of Dubno, established a press in his city, almost exclusively for the express purpose of printing this book. However, in the middle of the printing, a fire broke out, and approximately half of the copies were burned. As a result of the fire and the huge debts, Rabbi Chaim Mordechai passed away in the midst of the printing.
Material included about the book, the press, and the fire.
Complete set, including all the leaves at the beginning of the first part, approbations 'an announcement' and more, as well as the last leaf in the second part with the table of the timing of the festivals. Some copies do not have all these leaves.
