Beit Aharon, First Edition - Fundamental Karlin Doctrine. Pedigree Copy

Sefer Beit Aharon- Chassidism per the order of the weekly Torah portions and the festivals by the Admo”r Rabbi Aharon of Karlin. Brody, 1875. First edition. Fundamental work of Karlin Chassidut. One of the most famous and important works of all time.

Aside from the Torah insights, the book also includes missives, conduct and letters from all the Admo”rs of the Chassidic dynasty, Rabbi Aharon “HaGadol” of Karlin, his son Rabbi Asher, his grandson Rabbi Aharon “the second, ” and his great-grandson, Rabbi Asher “the second.”

Leaf 6 bears the famous Shabbat hymn, "Y-h Echsof" authored by Rabbi Aharon HaGadol of Karlin. This hymn was enthusiastically received across Jewish communities - mitnagdim and Chassidim alike, who traditionally sing it during the Shabbat night meal.

This first edition has several variants - revised during the printing process. Pagination in this variant: full title page (including the additional line with the words גם דברים נפלאים…), and the censor’s stamp of approval on the back. This is followed by the approbation leaf “להתודע ולהגלות שיש ת”י הסכמות…” followed by the introduction, and a leaf of errata at the end. (Refer to the article by Rabbi Avraham Abish Schorr “Al Darkei Ketivat V’Hadpasat Sfh”k Beit Aharon” Kovetz Beit Aharon V’Yisrael, year VI, issue 1 (31), pages 139-147).

Pedigree copy: Handwritten signatures from the gaon Rabbi Raphael Silverman, av beit din Safed, on the title page and other places. Several additional stamps of "Eli b"r Chaim Chaikel Mirifalsky, in Meron, near the sacred city of Safed. Handwritten signature along several leaves: "Belongs to R' Yehuda Leib z"l[?] b"r Eliezer Ee"g z"l."
