"The great light ... the pure tzaddik" (The Ktav Sofer, about Rabbeinu)

"His is called sacred, ... a pillar of the world" (The av beit din of Krakow about Rabbeinu)


Sefer Shivat Tziyon - responsa by the gaon Rabbi Shmuel Segal Landau - son and successor of the Noda BiYehudah (on leaf 8, he cites a manuscript by his father). The title page states: "Part I" - but no more were printed. Prague, 1927. First edition.


The title page is graced with a signature by the sacred gaon Rabbi Yosef Greenwald, av beit din of Czechowitz - progenitor of the Greenwald family, whose sons served as leading Admo"rim and rabbis in Hungary from the 'Arugot HaBosem' through the current Admo"rim of the Pupa dynasty: "Bought by the youth Yosef, son of ... " Lengthy handwritten glosses by him along the length of the sefer [approximately 50 lines; one of the glosses is in a different script].
