Handwritten Letter by the Admo"r Rabbi Kalonymus Kalmish Shapira of Piaseczno, Author of Chovat HaTalmidim
Lengthy and interesting letter, entirely handwritten and signed in full by the Admo"r Rabbi Kalonymus Kalmish Shapira of Piaseczno, author of the renowned sefer, Chovat HaTalmidim. Piaseczno-Warsaw, 1913.
This letter was sent to "my relative and friend, the glorious Chassid ...of distinguished lineage ... Rabbi Asher Yechezkel, shlit"a." The letter apparently deals with an unspecified public matter, where the Admo"r details his related activities. He mentions many prominent personalities in this letter, some by name and some only by their initials, including "The tzaddik of Radzyn, shlit"a (he did not become involved with this matter!)." At the end of the letter, the Admo"r signs his full signature: "Kalonymus Kalmish son of ... son-in-law of ..."
Rabbeinu does not indicate the addressee's family name. It may be Rabbi Asher Yechezkel HaLevi Horowitz, scion of leading Admo"rim of the dynasties of Chaba"d, Karlin and Amdor. Several leaders tried to appoint him Admo"r, but he refused. He was the leader of the Chaba"d community in Safed. One of his sons was the gaon Rabbi Yeshayah Horowitz, author of
Pardes HaAretz and more. He passed away in 1920.

Very fine condition. Fold marks and some wear, light stains. The letter has been artistically restored.
