Letter from Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Wosner
Letter from Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wosner. Sent to the mayor of Bnei Brak Rabbi Yitzchak Grestenokorn ["the founder and president of our city"] Dated the 27th of Elul 1952.
"His honor should merit to serve as our mayor for many more years and work for its religious character. We thank him for all his efforts on behalf of our Yeshiva..." On the margins of the letter, Rabbi Wosner added in his handwriting: "His friend, the one who cares for his well being and blesses him for longevity ..." and signed his name.
The Gaon Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Wosner [1913-2015], author of the "Shevet HaLevi" and Rosh Yeshiva of "Chachmei Lublin" in Bnei Brak was one of the greatest poskim of our generation.
Rabbi Yitzchak Gerstenkorn [1891-1961], was one of the pioneers of the city of Bnei Brak, and served as its first mayor.
