Friendly Letter from the Gaon Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Finkel, Son of the Alter of Slabodka. 1931
Friendly letter with tremendous blessings from the gaon Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Finkel, av beit din of Yazna and son of the Alter of Slabodka, sent to his dear friend Rabbi Yekutiel Kushelevsky [Azrieli], in honor of the giving of the Torah - Shavuot, his wedding, and receiving his father-in-law's position in the Zichron Ya'akov rabbinate, where he served for over sixty years. Zichron Ya'akov, 1931.
Rabbi Yekutiel Azrieli was a student of the Chevron yeshivah and a survivor of the 1929 pogrom, when he rescued his wife-to-be, a daughter of Rabbi Avraham Ya'akov Orlansky, rabbi of Zichron Ya'akov. In 1931, he married his wife and was then appointed rabbi of the colony after his father-in-law was killed in the 1929 pogroms.
In this letter, Rabbi Finkel writes tremendous blessings to Rabbi Azrieli and his wife, the Rebbetzin, "with respect to [your] wife, the pleasant Rebbetzin and eshet chayil, with deep understanding. May you merit upright children, as suits your families ..." And towards the upcoming holiday of Shavuot, "May [your] home always be place of Torah and fear of Heaven ... and may [you] merit a true acceptance of the Torah ..." and with respect to his new rabbinic position, "Mazal Tov ... may [you] make a kiddush Hashem with all [your] townspeople ... with much love ..."
And he signs his name ... "... son of the sacred Alter, of the Finkel family."
