Sifrei Segulah, Hungarian Kadosh: Chok L'Yisrael by the Author of Lev HaIvri

Chok - Lishna D' Mezonei (Beitzah 16)

This sacred Chassidic segulah sefer - Chok L'Yisrael mixes passages from all around the Torah into a daily schedule. Two parts bound together with separate color title pages." Sefer Shemot and Sefer Vayikra. Pest, 1861.

Personal copies that belonged to the warrior of Hashem's wars, the sacred gaon Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger, author of Lev HaIvri - one of the geonim and kedoshim of Hungary and the Land of Israel. His signature ["עקיב'[א] יוסף"] is displayed on both the title pages. His familiar stamps are also imprinted on the title pages. The first leaf of Sefer Vayikra also bears another of Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger's stamps, an extraordinarily rare stamp with his moniker per the name of his famous work, Lev HaIvri.

Chassidic circles consider Chok L'Yisrael to be a first-rate segulah sefer and attribute the segulah of banei chayyai v'mezonei to its study. The Admo"r, the author of Divrei Yechezkel of Shinova, explains this according to a saying in the gemara - Chok - Lishna D' Mezonei ["Chok" is the language of sustenance] (Beitzah 16). The Admo"r Rabbi Yoelish of Satmar attested that while studying the Chok, he drew the resolutions to the questions asked of him each day, and the tzaddik of Vlednik writes that according to the tradition received from his rabbis, it is a rectification for a blemish of the brit.

This segulah sefer was studied on a daily basis by the sacred gaon Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger. As is known, the essence of Chok L'Yisrael is daily study as established by the Ar"i HaKadosh, and "it is a great mitzvah to study it daily, every morning, to fulfil the obligation of fixed Torah study" - this according to the approbation from the Admo"r Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichov.

Shemot: [1], 182 leaf.

Vayikra: [1], 174 leaf. Mif'al HaBibliographiah records as follows for the Vayikra section: [1], 195 leaf. Comparison with the content of the Slavuta edition of Chok demonstrates only a limited number of missing leaves. 20 cm.

Moderate condition. Aging stains and many usage marks from the sacred gaon Rabbi Akiva Yosef Schlesinger. Worming damage with blemishes in the text. Crude adhesions in the first leaves and the last leaf. Old binding.
