Sefer Shev Ya'akov - responsa from the renowned gaon Rabbi Ya'akov Poppers, av beit din of Frankfurt before the Pnei Yehoshua. Frankfurt am Main, 1742. Two parts bound together with separate title pages. Important book of responsa. Pedigree copy.
Signature on the title page: "Hashem has graced me with this sefer, the youth Hertz Shaier" - this is the great gaon Rabbi Naftali Hertz Shaier, av beit din of Mainz, friend of Rabbi Moshe Sofer- author of Chatam Sofer. He authored Torei Zahav (Mainz, 1875). His descendants include a multi-branched family including many expert talmidei chachamim.
Additional notation handwritten by one of his disciples, attesting to this sefer having belonged to Rabbi Hertz.
