Manuscript on Parchment and Paper - Unprinted Philosophic-Kabbalistic Work. 15th Century

Manuscript written partially on parchment and partially on paper, with three she'arim from an unknown philosophic-Kabbalistic work by an unknown sage. Byzantine script. 15th century. Never printed.

The complete work apparently included at least 32 she'arim. This manuscript consists of the final three she'arim: Sha'ar 30 - Ta'amei Mitzvat Tefillin; Sha'ar 31 - Ta'amei' Mo'adei HaShanah; Sha'ar 32 - Ta'amei Viat HaMashiach V'Techiyat HaMetim. Special notation on the word "אליה" at the end of the manuscript - this may be a hint as to the scribe's name.

One of the sefer's owners from the 16th century noted the other sefarim that were bound together with this manuscript on the final page: HaKedamo' V'Ma'amari' Rabbim MiRabboteinu [28 leaf]; Sod Yichud Hashem U'Viur Bo [32 leaf]; Peirush HaHaggdah al Derech Kabbalah[13 leaf]; this manuscript - Ta'ami' al Mitzvat Tefillin U'Parshiyotav al Derech Kabbalah ... Ta'ami' al Mo'adei HaShanah ... Ta'amei Viat HaMashiach V'Techiyat HaMetim ... all together (the she'arim in the manuscript) from leaf 1 to the end, 32 leaves."

The owner notes an interesting comment with historic value at the end of the manuscript: "This entire sefer was arranged for me by the non-Jew, the owner of the press in Venizi" - this is Venice, Italy. This "non-Jew" may be the famous printer Daniel Bomberg, who dealt with many Hebrew manuscripts at his press.

The leaves were numbered 20-33 during an early period, but leaf 26 is not found among the page count. There was apparently a mistake made in the early pagination. See above for the note on the final page of the manuscript, where it explicitly states that the manuscript consists of 32 leaves.

33 [should be 32] leaf, written on both sides. [7] of these are parchment, and [25] are paper. 21 cm.

Moderate-fine condition. Characteristic creases on the parchment leaves. Tears with minimal lack, stains and adhesions in the inner margins of several leaves, some with slight damage to the text at the ends of the lines. Semi-parchment and marbleized paper binding.
