A handwritten and signed letter from Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Alter, author of 'Pnei Menachem' of Gur, addressed to Rabbi Moshe Dovid Tenenbaum, Chairman of the Vaad Hayeshivot, regarding a recommendation for recognition of the head of the Gur Yeshiva in Arad by the Vaad Hayeshivot. “…26th of Menachem Av 5741. Very good condition. Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Alter [1926–1996], the Rebbe of Gur and President of the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel. Prior to his leadership, he served for many years as Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Sfas Emes, a member of the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel, and Chairman of Agudath Israel. He is known as the *Pnei Menachem* after the title of his work. He was renowned for his lengthy and fervent prayers, often accompanied by movements of devotion. He is buried in the courtyard of Yeshivat Sfas Emes in the Mahane Yehuda neighborhood of Jerusalem, near the grave of his father, Rabbi Avraham Mordechai Alter, the author of 'Imrei Emes'.
