In 1869, he became the rabbi of the "Adat Yisrael" community in Berlin, where he also founded a yeshiva. In 1874, he established a rabbinical seminary that trained generations of rabbis and leaders. Rabbi Azriel was known for his work on behalf of German Jews and world Jewry in general, as evidenced by the letter in front of us. He was also referred to as "Nasi Eretz Yisrael."
