Letter of Appointment from the Sages of Tiberias to the Emissary Rabbi David Asudari Sent to India – Tiberias, [1890]
The emissary Rabbi David Asudari was born in Meknes, Morocco, and as a child immigrated to Tiberias. In 1857, he was among the signatories for the establishment of Yeshivat Beit Yaakov. He later traveled as a fundraising emissary (Shadar) to Yemen, Morocco, and in 1890, to India. During his stay in India, he gave rabbinic approval for the printing of a Tehillim (Book of Psalms) with an Arabic translation, published by Yehezkel Shem Tov David in Bombay, 1891.
