Set of Mishnah Berurah Books with ”Mugah” in the Author's Handwriting, Mostly First Editions - Set of Mishnah Berurah by the Chafetz Chaim, Hand-Inscribed ”Mugah” by the Author, Printed During His Lifetime. A set of the Mishnah Berurah volumes authored by the Chafetz Chaim, each bearing the handwritten inscription ”Mugah” (”Checked”) by the author himself on the flyleaf of each volume. As is well known, the Chafetz Chaim personally sold his books and took great care to examine each volume to ensure it was free from errors, avoiding any potential issue of fraud or deception. He typically inscribed ”Mugah” in his own handwriting to certify the book was thoroughly reviewed, as he feared that others might add the notation without proper inspection. The set includes three volumes, each containing two parts. Two of the volumes are first editions. Contents: - Volume 1: Missing in this set. - Volume 2: - Part III: Laws of Shabbat. Title page mistakenly labeled as ”Part II.” Warsaw, 1891. As noted, the Chafetz Chaim prioritized the publication of practical laws of Shabbat first. - Part IV: Laws of Eruvin and Rosh Chodesh. Warsaw, 1899. - Volume 3: - Part V: Laws of Passover and Yom Tov. Warsaw, 1901. - Part VI: Laws from Chol HaMoed to the end of Orach Chaim. Piotrków, 1907. Listed in Stefansky, Sefer Yesod 193.
