”Increase Efforts for the Shin Samech Heiy List”: Letter from the Yeshuos Moshe of Vizhnitz for the 1993 Elections - A significant political letter, signed by the President of the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel, the Rebbe Rabbi Moshe Yehoshua Hager of Vizhnitz. The letter was addressed to the Hasidic community in Petah Tikva regarding the municipal elections. Bnei Brak, 1993. In the 1993 municipal elections in Petah Tikva, the Shas and Agudath Israel parties joined forces in a joint list under the symbol ”Shin Samech Heiy” (Shas-A). In his letter, the Yeshuos Moshe directed the Hasidic community and the ultra-Orthodox residents of Petah Tikva to ”increase efforts for the Shas-Aleph list... and the representatives will safeguard the sanctity of Israel and stand by the residents of the city.” This joint list achieved great success in the elections, securing three council seats for Sinai Gilboa, Shlomo Linzer, and Yosef Chaim Busso. Rabbi Moshe Yehoshua Hager of Vizhnitz, zt”l (1916–2012) , the fifth Rebbe of Vizhnitz, was one of the greatest Hasidic leaders in the world and served as the President of the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel starting in 1989. The eldest son of the Imrei Chaim of Vizhnitz, he was known for his fervor and devotion in serving God and for the miracles he performed for thousands. He was an extraordinary scholar, teacher of Torah, and leader to multitudes. Under his leadership, the Vizhnitz Hasidic dynasty flourished both in size and spiritual strength, producing a generation of outstanding Torah scholars and rabbis worldwide. - [1] sheet of paper, 22 cm.
