Kohelet David by the Holy Rabbi David of Tolna. First Edition. Segulah Book - Kohelet David – Chassidic Teachings on the Weekly Torah Portions and Festivals by the renowned Admor Rabbi David of Tolna. Lublin, 1881. First edition, published during the holy author's lifetime. This work was brought to print by Rabbi David himself in his final year; he passed away on the 10th of Iyar, 1882, and the book was printed at the beginning of that year (1881–1882). In the introduction, the author writes that these teachings were delivered weekly: ”Since God appointed me to speak uprightly and guide the Jewish congregation on the straight path, to bind them with a strong and firm bond to fulfill the will of our Father in Heaven.” At the end of the introduction, he explains the title of the book, which also serves as a memorial to his son Mordechai, who passed away: ”For Mordechai also alludes to the secret of Shabbat, which is peace, as the verse says, 'And spoke peace to all his seed.' May it be fulfilled in us, 'And spoke peace to all his seed.'” It is well known that the works of Rabbi David of Tolna are unique in that he wrote them himself, published, and printed them himself.
