Warsaw, 1870 (5630). First edition. This is the first volume of the first edition of the renowned Torah novellae of the founder of the Gur Chassidic dynasty. On the back of the title page, an introduction by the editor, Rabbi Pinchas Menachem, grandson of the Gerrer Rebbe. Signatures of Notable Owners – The Hershpinckel Family The title page and the front flyleaf bear handwritten signatures of members of the Hershpinckel family: David Hershpinckel Zev Wolf Hershpinckel Menachem Mendel Hershpinckel The father-in-law of Rabbi Yosef Rosin, the Rogatchover Gaon, was from the Hershpinckel family, and it is likely that these signatures belong to members of that same distinguished family.
