The first part covers the Torah, and the second part includes discourses on the festivals and Tractate Bava Metzia. At the beginning of each part, there is an ”Apology from the Son of the Author.” Both volumes bear the stamps of Rabbi Yisrael Meizel of Kiev. Rabbi Yisrael Meizel-Meizlish (1918–1951), son of the renowned Rabbi Menachem Mendel Meizel, who later served as a rabbi in Warsaw. He was active in communal affairs, working closely with Rebbe Rayatz (Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn) in Soviet Russia, who referred to him in a letter as ”my dear friend.” He was the head of the community board in Kiev.
