Arugat HaBosem on the Torah – By Rabbi Moshe Greenwald, Av Beit Din of Khust. Khust, 5673 [1913]. Two Parts. First Edition. - Rabbi Moshe Greenwald, author of Arugat HaBosem [1853-1910], was one of the greatest rabbis and halachic authorities of Hungary. He was the foremost disciple of the Ktav Sofer and later studied under Rabbi Menachem Katz-Prostitz of Zelem, one of the greatest disciples of the Chatam Sofer, as well as his grandfather, Rabbi Yosef Greenwald. He served as a rabbi and Rosh Yeshiva in various communities. In 5653 [1893], he was appointed as the rabbi of Khust, where he established a large and prestigious yeshiva that attracted students from all over Hungary, as well as from other countries, including the United States. Many of Hungary’s greatest rabbis and scholars were his students. Although he came from a family that followed the tradition of the Chatam Sofer, he adopted Chassidic practices and was a devoted follower of the Admorim of Belz and Sighet. His sons and grandsons became the Admorim of Pupa. Volume I: Bereshit-Shemot. [4], 252, 263-274 leaves. Volume II: Vayikra, Bamidbar, Devarim. [8], 184 leaves. Volume II lacks the front cover; the title page is detached and slightly worn. Minor tears and reinforcements on the first pages of Volume I.
