First Edition. - The holy Admor Rabbi Chaim Elazar Shapira of Munkacs [1872-1937] was the son of the Admor, author of Darkei Teshuva, and a descendant of Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech of Dinov, author of Bnei Yissaschar. He was one of the greatest Admorim of Hungary before the Holocaust—a leading Kabbalist and an extraordinary Torah, Halachic, and Chassidic scholar of his generation. A fierce opponent of Zionism, he became the spiritual father of Satmar Chassidim. The Minchat Elazar visited Eretz Israel to meet his close friend, the Saba Kadisha, Rabbi Shlomo Eliezer Alfandari, and to present to him his Kabbalistic inquiries. During that visit, he founded the Batei Munkacs neighborhood in Jerusalem.
