Lechem Shamayim – The Yaavetz’s First Book. Wandsbek, 1733 (תצ”ג). Rare. Includes the Author’s Glosses - Lechem Shamayim – Commentary on Mishnayot Zera’im and Mo’ed, Part One. By Rabbi Yaakov Emden [the Yaavetz]. Wandsbek, 1733 (תצ”ג). Rare. Includes three handwritten glosses by the author. One gloss appears on the page following the title page, correcting the word chomah to chut. Two additional glosses appear in the errata and omissions section on page 122b. A large printed diagram of the Temple altar appears after the title page, with explanatory notes. The final leaves include the appendix Binyan Beit HaBechirah. Lechem Shamayim was the first published work by the Yaavetz, who went on to author dozens of important sefarim. Although Rabbi Yaakov Emden eventually established his own printing press at his home in Altona to publish his works, this volume predates the founding of that press.
