A work by Paul Christian Kirchner. Nuremberg, 1724. The book describes and presents, through engravings, Jewish life in Germany at the beginning of the 18th century. Includes 26 folded engravings. Kirchner was a Jewish convert who converted to Christianity in 1709. In 1717, he published a condensed edition of Jüdisches Ceremoniel without engravings, with one of his stated aims being to persuade Jews to convert. After the book's initial publication, the Hebraist scholar Sebastian Jacob Jugendres joined him, edited the book, corrected many parts, softened Kirchner’s fiery language, and added the engravings. The revised edition was published in 1724. The engravings were prepared by Johann Georg Puschner. 226, [22], [10] pages, plus engraved plates. 20 cm. Very good condition. Vellum binding.
