Letter from the Admor Rabbi Yerucham Leiner of Radzin, to S.Z. Shragai. 1946 - ”And our eyes shall behold the redemption of the Lord, His people’s eternal redemption” Letter in the holy handwriting and with the signature of the Admor of Radzin, the holy Gaon Rabbi Yerucham Leiner, of blessed and saintly memory. London, 1946. The letter was sent to Mr. Shlomo Zalman Shragai, the first mayor of Jerusalem after the establishment of the State. At the top of the letter appears a signed response from Mr. Shragai. Like his forebears, the Admorim of Izhbitza and Radzin, the holy Gaon Rabbi Yerucham Leiner was known as an extraordinary genius, to whom no secret was hidden. In the letter before us, he writes regarding many Torah novelties which he sent for printing in the Land of Israel. [1] Leaf of paper, 26 cm. Official stationery. Entirely in the Rebbe’s own handwriting. Very fine condition. Folding marks. Filing perforations. The Admor Rabbi Yerucham Leiner [1888–1964], the Admor of Izhbitza-Radzin. In 1931 he immigrated to England, where he served in the rabbinate. In 1950, he moved to the United States and established his Beit Midrash in the Borough Park neighborhood. Rabbi Yerucham was born in Radzin in 1888 to Pesia Rivka and Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel Leiner, who served as Rebbe in Chełm. His father was the son of Rabbi Yaakov Leiner of Radzin, son of Rabbi Mordechai Yosef Leiner of Izhbitza and author of the sefer Mei HaShiloach, and brother of the innovator of the techelet, Rabbi Gershon Henoch Henich Leiner. Rabbi Yerucham wore techelet according to the method of Rabbi Gershon. His books: Tiferet Yerucham, glosses on the Zohar, and more. After his passing, his son Rabbi Mordechai Yosef succeeded him as Admor of Izhbitza-Radzin.
