Manuscript – Sermons Delivered by Rabbi Eliyahu Landau [Great-Grandson of the Vilna Gaon] Across the United States, 1928–1939 - Manuscript containing sermons and Torah insights on various times and topics, delivered by Rabbi Eliyahu Landau, fourth-generation descendant of the Vilna Gaon, throughout the United States, [United States, 1928–1939]. Written in a notebook originally intended for the year 1923, the manuscript includes sermons and thoughts on the Torah, addresses delivered before Selichot, on the High Holidays, Jewish festivals, marriage and grooms, child education, the virtue of charity, the rebuilding of Zion and Jerusalem, the value of trust in God, and more. The author noted concise insights, stories, proverbs, references from Midrashic literature and various books, sermon outlines, and ideas. In several places he cites sources for the insights, for example: “in the name of the Chafetz Chaim, author of Chafetz Chaim, ” “Rabbi Yosef Kahaneman of Ponevezh, ” “in the name of Rabbi Yitzchak Zev Soloveitchik of Brisk, ” and others. At the tops of some pages, he occasionally notes the locations where the sermons were delivered, including: Lakewood, Baltimore, Bensonhurst (Brooklyn, NY), Milwaukee (Wisconsin), Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania), Detroit and Mount Clemens (Michigan), and more.
