Jerusalem Talmud – The copy of the Pnei Menachem, with handwritten glosses in his own script - Tractate Bava Kama from the Jerusalem Talmud, with Binyan Yerushalayim. Jerusalem, 1992. With the signatures and handwritten glosses of the Admor, author of Pnei Menachem of Gur. This edition includes Binyan Yerushalayim, featuring four commentaries on the Jerusalem Talmud. Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Alter of Gur granted his approbation to this work. On the front flyleaf and title page, he wrote his name and holy signature, adding the phrase: ”בְּרוֹב טוּב וְחֲסָדָיו חָנַנִי הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ” (“In His great goodness and kindness, Hashem has graced me”). On folio 43b, two glosses appear in his holy handwriting. The holy Rabbi Pinchas Menachem Alter [1926–1996], Admor of Gur and President of the Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah of Agudat Yisrael, previously served for many years as Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivat Sfas Emes, a member of the Council of Torah Sages, and Chairman of Agudat Yisrael. He was the youngest son of the Imrei Emes of Gur and was renowned for his profound scholarship. He is known by the title of his sefer, Pnei Menachem. He lived simply, residing all his life in a modest three-room apartment. His prayers were known for their exceptional length and fervent motions. His passing occurred suddenly after a Purim Seudah on Shushan Purim 1996. It is said that during the meal he alluded publicly to his approaching departure. He was buried in the courtyard of Yeshivat Sfas Emes in Jerusalem’s Machane Yehuda neighborhood, near the grave of his father, the Imrei Emes. Book in excellent condition.
