Autograph: The Lesson Notebook of the Great Rosh Yeshivah Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky - Autograph: The Lesson Notebook of the Great Rosh Yeshivah Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky A complete booklet [44 written pages] in the sacred handwriting of the great gaon Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky, Rosh Yeshivah of Ponovezh; an especially thick lined notebook containing his novellae on Tractates Bava Kamma and Bava Metzia. As is well known, Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky rarely wrote down his teachings, and most of his Torah was transmitted to future generations through the writings of his students [see the introduction by his son to Shiurei Rabbi Shmuel on Tractate Makkot]. This underscores the great significance of this manuscript—44 pages packed with Torah insights on two tractates, including the most classical yeshivah-style sugyot—all in the very handwriting of Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky. This manuscript offers a glimpse into his famed golden language and his unmatched clarity of explanation, unparalleled in his generation and even in generations prior. The gaon Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky [1913–1979], Rosh Yeshivah of Ponovezh—the flagship yeshivah of the Lithuanian Torah world. Already in his youth, he was renowned throughout the yeshivah world, and while still a young man, he was appointed as a lecturer at the Ponovezh Yeshivah—an exceedingly rare occurrence. In fact, he shaped the modern-day yeshivah student and served as a bridge between the Torah of the Lithuanian Roshei Yeshivah of the pre-Holocaust era and the postwar generation. His Torah teachings were compiled in the works Shiurei Rabbi Shmuel and Zikaron Shmuel, which continue to serve as foundational texts for the lectures of leading Roshei Yeshivah, many of whom were his students. Lined notebook: 72 leaves. 20x16 cm. 44 pages written in autograph manuscript, with some corrections and erasures. Very fine condition.
