He served as Av Beit Din, renowned halachic authority, and Rosh Yeshiva, to whom halachic queries were sent from across the Jewish world. His Responsa are considered among the most important collections in the genre Both volumes originate from the Beit Midrash Menachem Tzion in Jerusalem In the Even HaEzer volume, leaf 1 bears ownership inscriptions: Rabbi Yosef son of R. Zechariah Zamiro Rabbi Yosef Zamiro (d. 1843), a distinguished scholar and kabbalist, was among the great rabbis of Jerusalem. He authored Hon Yosef, a volume of responsa which he printed together with Divrei David by the Radbaz (Livorno, 1828).
