Despite what is printed on the title page, this is not Yalkut Re’uveni, but rather the author’s work Oneg Shabbat, a compilation from the holy Zohar, the Arizal, and other sources concerning the sanctity of the Sabbath. The author, Rabbi Reuven son of R. HaAshki Katz, was a grandson of Rabbi Shlomo Ephraim of Luntschitz, author of Kli Yakar. At the head of the title page is the signature of Rabbi Moshe Rosenstein of Berdichev. The holy Rabbi Moshe [Meir] HaLevi Rosenstein of Berdichev (1821–1902), known as “Reb Moshele Barditshever, ” was the son of Rabbi Mordechai, from the disciples and close circle of the holy Rabbi of Apt. He was a prominent disciple and member of the household of our master the Saba Kadisha of Ruzhin, as well as of his son, the first Rebbe of Sadigura, and of the Rebbe the Pachad Yitzchak of Boyan. In 1853 he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael, settling in the holy city of Safed where he became renowned, and later in the holy city of Tiberias, where he passed away and was buried in the old cemetery near the graves of the disciples of the Baal Shem Tov. His teachings and stories of the tzaddikim that he related have been published in recent years in Avodat HaLevi’im – Or HaGanuz, which also includes his biography and that of his descendants.
