Lechem Min HaShamayim. By the Grandson of the Chida. With His Handwritten Page - Lechem Min HaShamayim, novellae and selections from all the writings of the Chida, arranged according to the weekly Torah portions, with homiletic discourses by him, edited by his grandson Rabbi Moshe Azulai, who also added his own notes. The author, a grandson of the Chida and Av Beit Din of Ancona, explains on the title page that the name of the book Lechem Min HaShamayim is an acronym for: Likutei Chidushim MiZekeni MiKol Nimukei HaRav Shenidpesu Me’az Yekara MiPninim. He added Tzitzim U’Perachim to the words of Mar Zekeni HaRav (my grandfather, the Rabbi), and signed: Ma’ayin (Moshe Azulai Ya’ir Ner’o). Unique Copy: In the present copy an additional leaf is bound, containing a table of corrections (luach hata’ut) to the homiletic discourses, in the author’s own handwriting. These corrections were not printed in the book. Rabbi Moshe Azulai of Ancona (1787–1853), author of Zikaron Moshe and Lechem Min HaShamayim – Ruach Chaim, was the son of Rabbi Raphael Yeshaya, the son of the Chida, and rabbi of Ancona. Even before his birth, the Chida foretold his father that a son would be born who should be named Moshe, the seventh generation from Rabbi Avraham Azulai (author of Chesed LeAvraham), just as Moshe Rabbeinu was the seventh generation from Avraham Avinu. He was beloved by his grandfather the Chida, who referred to him in his letters to his father as “Moshe Charif” and “Moshe Shafir” (Benayahu, p. 502). 105 leaves.
